Here are the children whose school fees we are covering, thanks to your donations.

in January 2024, 8/11 of our pupils are fully sponsored by different donors.

Moses Tumwesige

16 years old

Class: Secondary 3 (Supported from P7)

Costs: 700,000 UGX/term (170€)

We first helped Moses in 2018, before the association was created, when he was in his last year of primary school. He is a very studious child. Unfortunately, following the death of his father, his mother wanted to put him in the fields because she could no longer pay for his school fees. Today, Moses is in boarding school in the nearest town, Hoima, in the third year of secondary school and wish to become a doctor.

Marion Kusiima

16 years old

Class: Secondary 2 (Supported from P7)

Costs: 500,000 UGX/term (120€)

During the Covid19 crisis in 2020, Marion unfortunately lost both of her parents. Today she lives alone with her mother-in-law. She is just starting secondary school and we will pay for boarding school in Hoima. She is the first young girl we have helped and we are very happy because we make it a point of honor to allow Ugandan girls to have access to school. Marion wish to become a nurse.

Divine Marinajena

16 years old

Class: Primary 6

Costs: 250,000 UGX/term (60 €).

Divine is a young girl born of rape. Her mother, traumatized by her experience, apparently does not understand that she is her child and Divine has been taken into care by the community.

From January 2024, Divine's entire schooling life will be sponsored.

Elizabeth Alinaitwe

13 years old

Class: Primary 7 (Supported from P5)

Fee: UGX 280,000/term (65€)

Elizabeth is also one of our young students and is also an orphan. She studies at the Golden Angels school, directly in Kaseeta. We have also intervened in this school on many occasions. Elizabeth is in sixth grade.

From January 2024, Elizabeth's entire schooling life will be sponsored.

Nicholas Ahumuza

12 years old

Class: Primary 3

Costs: 310,000 UGX/term (75€)

Nicholas is a 10-year-old boy who has lost both parents. He now lives with a member of the community who is helping orphans but he is rather old and has no money for tuition fees. We decided to register Nicholas in boarding school to provide him with some stability and a person from the village has agreed to take him in during holidays.

From July 2023, Nicholas was sponsored by a donor for his entire schooling life.

Danison Ahimbinsibwe

9 years old

Class: Primary 3 (supported from P2)

Costs: 90,000 UGX/term (20€)

Ahimbinsibwe lives with his parents but both are disabled. Not being able to work, they cannot afford Ahimbisibwe's school fees. The village chief tried to help him but asked for our financial support.

From October 2023, his entire schooling life will be sponsored.

Grace Mbabazi

8 years old

Class: Nursary 2

Costs: 250,000 UGX/term (60 €).

Grace lives with her 86-year-old grandmother. Her father passed away and her mother has mental problems preventing her from keeping her daughter. She was taken out of school for unpaid fee. Due to her age, her grandmother doesn't have any income and struggles to take care properly of Grace. She asked us to put her in boarding school.

From August 2023, Grace's schooling life will be sponsored by a donor.

Catherine Kenbabazi

8 years old

Class: Primary 3 (Supported from P1)

Costs: 100,000 UGX/term (25€)

Catherine is one of the youngest of our students. She is in the second year of primary school in St Joseph school. Unfortunately, she is also an orphan and lives with her grandmother.

From 2023, July, Catherine's schooling life will be sponsored by a donor.

Janet Katusiime

Class: Primary 1

Costs: 100,000 UGX/term (25 €).

Janet is just starting primary school thanks to our help. Her parents are no longer living together ans she is living with her dad, who is currently unemployed, therefore unable to register Janet to school.

Foska Nyayenga

7 years old

Class: Primary 2

Costs: 90,000 UGX/term (25 €).

Foska starts her schooling in January 2023 to the first year of primary school. She is the first of the students to have benefited from our donations of school supplies. Her father is deceased and she lives with her mother.

From 2023, July, Foska's schooling life will be sponsored by a donor.

Sonia Kotridah

3 years old

Class: Nursary 1

Costs: 310,000 UGX/term (75 €).

Sonia is the second child of Solomon, our manager. To thank him for his voluntary services within our charity, we offered him to take charge of his daughter's schooling. She lives with her mother in another district. She will start her schooling in January 2024. One of our sponsors has agreed to contribute a percentage of her tuition fee.

Former candidates

At Omwana, our mission is to provide educational support to children for whom access to school is a real challenge. Our support takes the form of a scholarship, which goes beyond simple financial aid — it is based on a mutual commitment between the student, their family, their school, and our team.

Unfortunately, there are times when we must make the difficult decision to discontinue our support for certain students. This decision is never taken lightly. It comes only after several attempts to engage, probation periods, and discussions with families and teachers, particularly to ensure that there are no deeper personal or household challenges preventing the student from continuing their education.

The reasons for ending our support may vary, and can include: lack of commitment or irregular attendance; persistently low academic performance, despite time and encouragement to improve; dropping out of school; moving to another region; or receiving external assistance (from other NGOs, government scholarships, etc.).

Our aim is to focus our limited resources on the most motivated and promising students, in order to maximize their chances of success. This does not mean that the other children are undeserving of help — only that we must make difficult choices in order to stay true to our mission.

We are deeply grateful to all the students and families we have supported, even briefly,as well as for the donors who made it possible; and we sincerely wish them the very best for the future.

Elite Shukuru

Elite is a young orphan. He was often seen by our agent begging for school supplies or food. This is the second child we want to help. We had planned to pay his school fees but, to our delight, we learned that he had received a scholarship. He remains one of our candidates, however, in case he needs help for next year.

Derrick Wubosinguzi

Supported for 1.5 years (until May 2023)

Derick has been living with his grandmother since his father died. His mother is ill and cannot care for him. He studies at St. Benardetta's in Hoima, the town where Moses is studying. This term, we paid for his tuition, as well as a nice new uniform, which you can see in the photo.

Unfortunately, Derrick was not showing up for class and his teachers reported behavioral issues. We have therefore suspended Derrick from our program for the time being.

Joseline Ayesiga

Supported for 2 years (until January 2025)

Joseline benefited from our program for two years and received support from one of our sponsors. Unfortunately, Joseline was struggling academically. Despite her efforts, she was unable to improve her grades. In 2025, she left the region to return to her family, which complicated our logistical support. We therefore made the difficult decision to no longer support her.
